On Today’s Show:
This morning, the Office of Personnel Management published its rule implementing a 25% pay differential for federal wildland firefighters during prescribed fire operations.
This is a massive win for wildland firefighters, and now it enters the public comment period, which will last 30-60 days, setting up approval for the fall burning period.
This is something I have made a mission, as many long-time readers and listeners know. I talk about it once a week. I documented that fireline injuries actually occur more often during prescribed fires, as mentioned in this report, and prescribed fire is inherently hazardous.
I cover this entire report on the show, and what comes next. Shoutout to the Agencies that pushed for this, and to OPM for finally moving this historic pay reform forward.
