What is fully staffed? The Forest Service says they are fully staffed, and technically, they are. But that doesn’t mean there are no vacancies… So, what does fully staffed actually mean?
Fire Chief in British Columbia says there have been 3 fire related fatalities in the last month caused by “unhoused encampments.” The Chief asked the Regional government to address this massive wildfire danger; their response was to send “advocacy letters”, as it’s a “sensitive issue.”
Arson charges dropped after two years of investigating the Alexander Mountain Fire in Colorado, which destroyed dozens of homes. Investigators now say they have no suspect.
Canadian wildland firefighters are fighting to be recognized as “firefighters” so they can receive federal benefits and care. Currently, they are categorized as tree planters. New legislation introduced.
