Fatality On Virginia Wildfire After Firefighter Collapses On Scene.
This afternoon, the Virginia Department of Forestry announced that on Saturday, while engaging a 3-acre start in Scott County, veteran firefighter James C. Ward collapsed while engaging the fire with a handcrew. Scott’s fire experience and knowledge go back over 20 years when he started as a part-time firefighter.
