We should all know that cardio is King. If you can breathe when others are drowning you will easily outperform and excel past your peers. So how can we boost our oxygen efficiency and lung capacity? This can be accomplished through hypoxic breathing practices and exercise. These types of workouts will build your body’s ability to perform at higher elevations and grow lung capacity. I modified a Navy Seal hypoxic swim for our cardio needs.
A hypoxic swim set is when you add more swim strokes between breaths in a pyramid-type workout.
How to do:
During a hypoxic set, slowly exhale out of your nose while your head is in the water before taking another breath. Doing so allows you to continue working on breath control without actually holding your breath through the swim. Again, you want to slowly exhale your breath between strokes and not just hold your breath.
Cool, let’s begin.
