Monday Morning Workout : It's time to make yourself work while you're tired.
Gotta work after you hike to the fire.
Hiking is only part of the physical labor we do during the season. Our morning commute just to get to the office happens to be a three mile hike. Then once we get there we have to grind all day.
In order for you to be successful out in the field you need to train your body and mind to operate under these circumstances. This calls for workouts that occasionally extend longer than what you normally put yourself through. Two a days. When I do two a days it’s usually a PT hike that coincides with a cardio leg workout. I’ve put together this workout to try and get my mind and body comfortable… with being uncomfortable.
First drink a glass of water and a protein shake before you start.
Stretch and get loose.
Next get a pack together and find a 3 mile hike to do. I’m not looking for a rammer hike straight up hill. Find an uphill gradual hike for this exercise. If you do not have a hill or mountain to do this on find a treadmill and turn up the incline for this part.
When that’s done take off your pack, hydrate, stretch, and loosen up.
Ok, now that the hike’s done it’s time to work…
