As I’ve written about before it’s important to take care of yourself during the season and in the off-season. I suggest this article about recovery methods that I’ve found to be very helpful in maintaining a healthy body and mind throughout the year. However, maintaining a level of fitness through the fire season can be difficult, but I find it very important. On R&R rest comes first. It’s good to get the heart and body moving at least one time before you go back available. It’s helpful to have mental notes or maybe even a PM check for yourself. Go through that checklist in the morning or on R&R and take a self-assessment of where you’re at. If you’re feeling good and want to get the heart rate up and break a sweat. Let’s get after it.
First:
Make sure you’re well hydrated before the workout.
Loosen up, dynamic stretch, and find some good music or a podcast you want a soundtrack.
