Multiple Firefighters Reportedly Shot Responding To Wildfire In Idaho.
Reports the wildfire was intentionally started to set an ambush.
Update: 🔈
Update 4:14 PM Sheriffs department helicopter still searching the area:
This is a developing story:
This afternoon, a wildfire started just outside Hayden, Idaho, in the Northwest part of the state. After responding to the fire, firefighters reported shots fired, with multiple crewmembers shot.
North Idaho News is reporting that fire crews started to receive gunfire once they arrived on scene of the Canfield Fire. It’s also reported that police arrived on the scene to find the firefighters pinned down and started to exchange gunfire with the suspect.
I had the county radio traffic on, and multiple calls came in of crewmembers shot in the chest. There was also radio traffic saying sources on scene felt the fire was set intentionally to provide the shooter cover for an ambush.
Life Flight was ordered, and further assistance is coming from Spokane.
The last radio traffic I heard before publishing this was further requests from resources on scene for additional ambulances, and for them to stage near the water tender for further instructions. There was also radio traffic saying two firefighters are still unaccounted for.
It sounds like this fire was set by an individual, and as soon as firefighters arrived, they just started emptying rounds down range towards them. This is one of the most evil incidents I’ve ever heard of in the wildfire world.
Updates will come.

🤯 I’m not gonna lie, if you shoot at first responders, particularly unarmed first responders, I hope they bury you face down. No fucks given. That is as bad, as unconscionable as it gets. Prayers are sent for the wounded and injured, and gosh I hope they’re all still alive! 🙏🏻🙏🏻💔
Sheesh you’re quick! I was just driving north on 95 and several police were speeding south and I had to look it up on North Idaho News, literally as I was getting this notice.
