Now they collect unemployment while looking for new jobs. Sure does save the government money. I suppose most of America doesn't care about maintaining trails and campgrounds because they've never left their concrete jungle.
Hopefully most of those being "terminated" will be eligible for unemployment while they look for a new career ?? The vindictive language of some of the letters suggest a "firing" for "performance" issues. Not sure that makes the grade in all cases to collect unemployment insurance ??
That's a good point, i asked a couple of buddies who were fired and they can't collect. I guess no SF-8s were handed out as part of the generous severence package.
One of the best postings from an "outside source" I've read in the "Wake-Up" since I began subscribing. Thank you for giving this letter some additional light.
The lack of due process, the arrogance, amateurism, disrespectful tone and chaotic nature of DOGE"s slash & burn downsizing has been demonstrating anything BUT "Government Effency" A totally chaotic, roughshod, poorly planned, morale busting, and perhaps in many ways illegal MESS.
The author here is spot on - Take every negative characteristic of poor, ineffective and indifferent leadership one can think of - And it has been on display X10 these last Four weeks.
The lack of understanding and respect being demonstrated for the work that is done by so many in service to this Country is staggering...And in many ways just plain Sad.
When I and 6,000 of my friends were terminated suddenly in 2002, we responded in part by preparing to apply for new roles in the new company. Many of us were rehired. Dust off your resumes and prepare to apply.
Another good example of the Peter principle people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another, the forest service has a real problem with this if they want to save the tax payers dollars they should start from the top and work there way down and find out who is doing all the work, and I know not every body was eligible for the deferred resignation but I haven't heard of not one case where anyone has got anything that was agreed upon and what's up with VERA we are getting screwed by pretty much anyone GS-13 and higher.
The wording in the termination letter is incredibly offensive. Also stupid. But that's the hallmark of the Trump /Musk "government."
Get fucked, Jms. You're part of the problem. Let me tell you why.

God willing.

Amen
We've fat chicks on handcrews. Explain to me how that make us a better firefighter force.
