FEMA- how about having a review of what went wrong? Send the FEMA “A” Team out. Include State folks on the review team. Post the results to the public. Rent an office in NM. Involve the State in the selection (they can’t make the final but can give input). Sheesh! This is “good responsive government 101”.
Also on the Forest Service.. you know and I know that the removal of the Supe is mostly symbolic (did the FMO ask her for advice on how safe to be?). We want to fix things and get better- isn’t that the learning culture? And what seems like a promotion to some, to Supes, or Rangers who go to the RO, it’s definitely a punishment. They go from being Top Dog to being an underling, and move from somewhere nice (Santa Fe in this case) to somewhere .. less nice and less affordable. No more money, and much more cost.
Excellent podcast on Hermit’s Peak FEMA update. Gov’t at its best behavior, pumping the public full of bullshit. This old hotshot and smokejumper knows better, and having worked in the FS regional office, and after retirement for FEMA knowing too much about all the waste and lies that take place. I would love to share them with you, in a private conversation, at the same time putting together a book full of examples. I have to laugh about those government jobs where you never get fired, ha ha …. The government called them: “directed reassignment”. I have plenty of those to share. Once again, awesome, podcast thank you so much for keeping this alive, and in the forefront. Is so hard to find a national platform that can help keep this in the public.As a wildland firefighter and stake holder in the Mora area, it's sickening to see how botched this has become. Unfortunately this has become a generational fire as some of this area will not be able to support the ne t generation of families. I would hope as you say that this hasn't become part of some"darker agenda " , but it sure has the markings of it. Thanks again for always being "that guy" to push correct and honest information!!🇺🇸
