Ok, I admit im one of the Sheehy haters, I’ve even commented on this page.. BUT, if he can push for firefighters livelihoods, and help raise wildland firefighting to a profession, then I’m willing to listen and be open to a new way. One thing that keeps standing out to me, is how u have suggested having compassion for each other, those who have lost their homes, businesses and lives, yes… but I wonder if there will be the same level of compassion for that poor sucker who used that torch… and this is the point that might wrangle people… there is a huge disparity in this country between the rich and the poor, the underserved, the people who are just surviving. It takes money and people to help the kinds of people willing forests and neighborhoods on fire… yet often there’s no where for these folks to go for help. our systems are broken, and run soooooo deep.

My rant…

Thanks again for the updates. You have totally leveled up. The public and policy makers have to know the details of the work, in order to see it as a specialty, value it, and find money to pay for it!

I completely agree, the system is broken.

I hope those fine citizens who caught the arsonist red-handed in the act gave him some justice.

The Police arrested the suspect and have charged him with a parole violation. They said after reviewing the evidence there was not enough probable cause to charge him with arson. Even though he was caught with a torch trying to light discarded Christmas trees and trash on fire by the residents. According to one report he was released a few hours later. 🙄
