On Today’s Show:

Today, I welcome Frank Carroll, a highly experienced wildfire and forestry expert with over 50 years of experience in wildland fire management, policy, and consulting. Frank has 31 years of experience with the Forest Service, working on National Incident Management Teams, Hotshot Crews, as a public affairs officer, and more.

Frank has also been an expert witness on multiple high-profile wildfire cases, including the 2003 Canberra Firestorm and the 2015 Butte Fire. He founded Professional Forest Management, LLC (PFMc) Wildfire Pros in 2012, a wildfire impacts and policy consultancy that has assisted over 800 clients in cases totaling $1B in claims.

Frank combines deep technical knowledge of wildfire science with extensive real-world experience managing and analyzing wildfires. His background spans firefighting, policy development, litigation support, and consulting, making him a leading expert in comprehensive wildfire management.

Today, we discuss what he describes as profound issues with current wildfire policy and leadership. We cover the ongoing issues the Forest Service faces with suppressing fires in the American West, the budget nightmares, and what is needed to make changes.
