Been preaching the same topic of 30 yrs- most people think loosing shrubs and cover trees will cause their energy cost for AC to increase.

Over the last 5 years I had over 500 property owners contact me to give advise on making their home safe because their insurance was going to drop them.

Excellent and timely interview - Insurance Costs are the Elephant in the Room in a out of control, and out of reach, housing market in vast reaches of the ruarl west.

Excellent interview!

Having looked at the complete damage of some/most of the homes in LA & Maui, once a fire starts, it is all fuel. So realizing that the structures are actually fuel is a big take-a-way from this podcast. First time I'm hearing that point being articulated...

I also like the brainstorming on how insurance companies could market things. It got me thinking what if Jake the State Farm guy and Flo the Progressive gal along with the Geico gekco showed up and knocked on people's doors. Heck bring in Smokey the bear! A cross collab as they call it on YouTube...

I cant believe it's taken this long to include structures as fuel. Thanks for the great interview 👍

Information is power. Thanks for your work. The insurance companies are slightly less villainous after listening and understanding their predicament. I like that better messaging for hardscape and target hardening are discussed here. Who is this guy again? Really measured and sensible.

Appreciate your Podcasts. This one in particular. Lots of talk on Insurance companies and WUI.

I wanted to tag on to the conversation that you had with Michael Wara. We are starting to see a pattern with Urban Interface devastation in communities. Coffey Park, Paradise, Lahaina and now L.A

Not only is the zone zero the most vulnerable to structures but how close the building are to one another. When I was on the hotshots we would always mention that buildings were just another fuel type.

what ultimately burn the community in Coffey Park near Santa Rosa was structure to structure ignition. That is the pattern that we are seeing here with the other conglomerate Urban Interface. Structure placement is closer to each other than ever before in communities and should be considered as important as zone zone when new buildings are constructed.

Thank you again for your podcasts
