I’m going to guess that 99% of ff’s would say no to a ride in an autonomous helo.

Here are some comments [edited for the feint-hearted] from another former USFS HS Supt., turned, Special Agent, from the InvestigativeMEDIA YH Fire website (Sept. 2017), that worked with this gentleman alluded to in my comment: "I was shocked to read that Van Bateman’s S**t Bag Attorneys and he found 50 former and maybe even current wildland fire officials willing to lie like dogs to a federal judge in writing stating that they were FIRE BUGS just like Van was and probably still is unless he has had a whole bunch of counseling to figure out why he is so f**ked up in his head."

"Van got to his exalted place in life by always projecting strength and confidence with his command presence wherever he went and to whoever he was with at all times.. I find it very sad that when it came time for him to be tested, and I mean really tested by standing up like a man (non gender specific since I have seen many women stand up like a man) he failed, and not only that, he failed miserably in his shameful and cowardice effort to avoid accepting responsibility for his actions, what a Chicken S**t!"

I always got along well with Van. He was always forthright with me. He remembered and honored his HS roots and treated me courteously and professionally.

Van was the type 1 IC from R3 that was an arsonist right?

Be sure to read my comment on this Fire rescue 1 post. In addition, a former USFS HS that worked on a certain COF District back in the day stated that they had "three kinds of fires. Lightning-caused, Man-caused, and Van-caused." (https://azdailysun.com/wildfires-blamed-on-forest-firefighter/article_147735a1-7b82-5f7c-85f1-09adc426456f.html)

As a retired USFS Hot Shot Supt. and Type 2 Safety Officer, since 1972,from a retired CDF Arson Investigator instructor in my Fire Control course, he told us that 80% to 85% of WILDLAND FIRE ARSONISTS are wildland firefighters, firemen, wanna-be firemen, used-to-be firemen, disgruntled firemen. This is a factually accurate and true statistic that holds today.

Think about it. Hearken back to your current and / or historical arson wildfires. Who was on their days off and showed up? Who was on each of those wildfires? The Southeast is particularly susceptible to this issue. In fact, you need to have TWO lookouts in the SE. One for the fire and one for the arsonists lighting fires underneath you.

Know and follow your rules of Engagement and the Entrapment Avoidance principles. Continue to do your inherently dangerous jobs exceptionally well.
