On Today’s Show:
The Secretaries of the USDA and DOI met with the President in the Oval Office today to discuss the wildfire season going forward, the unification of the five wildfire agencies into a single new Bureau, wildfire prevention work, wages, and other topics.
I cover the meeting and the comments made by both Secretaries on these issues.
Additionally, Arizona is managing the Basin Fire outside of Flagstaff, which originated as a 1-acre lightning strike on June 5th, to enhance wildfire resilience on the landscape. This shows the willingness of the Forest Service to continue wildfire management by the National Forests when conditions are favorable to do so.
They are building a 9,000-acre box to implement firing operation this week to introduce good fire on the Arizona landscape. This will be the largest active fire in the nation when all is said and done. It looks great.
