You can't buy flood insurance from a private insurer, so the federal government sells it at a reasonable, discounted price and has mapped who needs it. In California, insurors will cover earthquake damage only if you pay substantially extra. Currently, in Colorado at least, regular house insurance covers wildfire. However, many insurance companies just won't cover houses in wildfire zones, and they are even cutting off existing customers. So far I haven't heard of a company trying to charge extra for wildfire insurance. Might happen, though.

Also this study is wildly wildly erroneous. It says the Buffalo Creek fire in Colorado covered 47 sq miles! and burned down one property in Arvada, which is at least 50 miles away. And it skips over the county in Colorado rated in the worst danger in the nation. Try checking places you know and see how accurate you think it is.
