On today’s show:

This weekend, Oklahoma was hit with over 100+ new wildfires that tore across their state, leading to a massive loss of property, numerous injuries, and multiple fatalities. Texas also experienced destructive wildfires across the state as well.

Last week, more high-level departures took place, including additional regional foresters. This is in addition to the other RFs that announced their departure plans in the previous few weeks. I cover what positions left.

An individual with over a decade of service in the Forest Service Washington Office spoke with me about how the FS overspent its budget and tried to fix the 2024 financial hole by firing staff (non-fire seasonals) and talking about consolidations and reductions. They said the FS overspent IRA and BIL funds by pouring them into NGOs, which ultimately were sweetheart deals, leading to massive budget holes.

A new investigation finds it took over 4 hours for evacuation orders to be implemented during the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California.
